Deena Varner is a cultural studies scholar, freelance editor, and assistant professor of practice at Texas Tech University. Her research interests include neoliberal legality and social control, the corporatist-prison state, carceral geographies, and social citizenship, especially in the United States. She holds a PhD in cultural studies from Purdue University and is the author of From the Courtroom to the Boardroom: Privatizing Justice in the Neoliberal United States.
